With My Parents and the Gorbachevs at the Launch of Green Cross International

In Kyoto, Japan, April 18-22,1993 with my beloved mother, father, and Raisa and Mikhail Gorbachev at the launch of Green Cross International (GCI) in Kyoto, Japan, April 18-22,1993. We were invited to attend at the invitation of Mr. Gorbachev. We had met previously at several events.

Mr. Gorbachev, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former President of the USSR – is the Founding President of Green Cross International, which he established in response to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit call to create a “Red Cross for the environment."

GCI is now established in 30 Countries. President Gorbachev is the Founding President of Green Cross International, which he founded in response to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit call to create a “Red Cross" for the environment. Shortly after this picture, President Gorbachev's beloved wife Raisa, of 46 years, died of cancer.

One of the many spiritual qualities that I so loved and respected about my father was he was always himself, both in the way he dressed and the way he gave equal love and respect to whoever he met, rich or poor, famous or unknown, young or old.

At this Gathering, he seemed to be a spiritual magnet, especially to all the young Japanese students who were attending or helping out at the Gathering. He loved them and they loved him!
