Welcome Ceremony at the Ngäbe Buglé General Assembly in Panama

Was surprised by a Welcome Ceremony when I arrived at the Ngale Ngäbe Buglé Comarca General Assembly at their National Headquarters in the mountains of Panama. The Welcome Ceremony was led by their Elders and Spiritual Leaders. They used whistles and drums with dancing style the same as our Dakota and Lakota Sun Dances. There are 260,000 Ngale Bugle, Seventy Percent are women. While they suffer great physical poverty, but are very, very spiritually strong and hospitable People. They do whatever is need to protect Mother Earth , with women standing in the front lines!

Phil Lane Jr., in a feathered headdress, smiles amid a crowd of Ngäbe Buglé people in colorful hats; a man blows a whistle beside a jaguar pelt held aloft outdoors.
