I am not an economist but I wonder if those who are really have a clue. The policies adopted since 1980 in the US have outsourced good jobs, lowered wages, concentrated wealth in the hands of the few, and forced people to take on more and more debt to support consumption. The pain is evident all around. Government has been perverted and acts to help those at the top with tax cuts and regulatory relief. Yet our central banks are flummoxed as to why growth is so slow. To “remedy” the situation they want negative interest rates which will lower the earnings on the paltry savings of the many even more and further distort the distorted US “economy”. Since, in my mind, extreme wealth concentration and high debt levels is a good way to create conditions for a deflationary depression—you have to wonder what these people are thinking.
