Unity is the Sacred Law of this age. To break it with quarrels, division, or hatred is to strike against the hoop of life itself. Just as the Sacred Circle holds the four directions—red, yellow, black, and white—so too must the human family sit together around one fire. If even one part of the hoop is broken, the circle cannot hold, and all are weakened. But when the hoop is whole, the lodge of humankind stands strong.
The peace of the people, the health of Mother Earth, the safety of the generations yet unborn—all these depend on our oneness. Without this circle of unity, there is no security, no balance, no true life. With it, the songs of the ancestors rise again, the rivers flow clear, the buffalo and salmon return, and the dawn of harmony shines around our Mother Earth.
