Unity Grounded in Love and Expressed Through Justice

The peace and well-being we seek will remain beyond our reach until we learn to live together as one human family.

We have fought wars, held conferences, signed treaties, and developed many systems of government and economics. Within these efforts, countless people have worked sincerely for a better world. Yet no system can bring lasting peace while our hearts remain divided and we continue to place the well-being of some above the dignity and survival of others.

What the world needs now is unity, grounded in love and expressed through justice.

Our lives are bound together, with one another, with the generations yet to come, and with the waters, lands, and living beings of Mother Earth. What we do to these relationships, we ultimately do to ourselves.

A spiritual solution begins with remembering these relationships and living accordingly. It welcomes people of every sacred tradition, and those who express their deepest values through kindness and service. . Each of us has something precious to the healing of our human family.

The unity we seek makes room for our different languages, cultures, histories, and ways of prayer. It asks us to recognize the sacred worth of every person and to accept the responsibilities that come with our belonging to one another. It requires truth, justice, and the full participation of those whose voices have too often been excluded.

We begin within ourselves. We listen with humility. We heal what we can. We learn to consult together with respect and turn our shared understanding into action. Our spiritual commitments become real in how we care for children, honor women and Elders, share resources, resolve differences, and protect Mother Earth.

We cannot continue preparing for war and expect to inherit peace. We must put our love, our courage, and our resources behind the world we want our children to receive.

May Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery, guide us toward the humility to listen, the courage to heal, and the love to stand together in unity.
