The Seven Fires Prophecy and the Lighting of the Eighth Fire

Seven Fires Prophecy, the 8th Fire, and the Most Great Peace...

Shunkmanu gathered his grandchildren, Oliver, Maya, Nahtayu, and Ella, along a beautiful flowing stream by a small waterfall to share the wisdom of the Seven Fires Prophecy, the 8th Fire, and the Most Great Peace. They sat by the water, the gentle sound of the stream serving as a backdrop to Shunkmanu's words.

Shunkmanu began with great reverence, "Listen closely, my beloved grandchildren, for I am about to share with you the Seven Fires Prophecy that has guided our people and many Indigenous nations for countless generations and how it has just been fulfilled."

He looked deeply into his grandchildren’s eyes and continued, "The First Fire tells of our ancestors rising, following the Midewiwin Lodge and the Sacred Megis. They journeyed to a chosen ground, marked by a turtle-shaped island where food grows on water, known to some as Mooniyaang and others as Montreal."

"The Second Fire," Shunkmanu continued, "speaks of a time when the direction of the Sacred Shell was lost, and the Midewiwin diminished. But hope emerged as a girl was born, pointing the way back to our traditional ways. The Anishinaabe people found the second turtle-shaped island at Niagara Falls."

With each word, Shunkmanu's voice carried the weight of history and the power of the prophecy. "The Third Fire tells of our people finding their chosen ground in the west, where food grows upon the waters, Manitoulin Island."

He paused, his gaze shifting towards the flowing stream. "Now, the Fourth Fire," he said, "speaks of two prophets and a prophecy they shared of great importance. They foretold the arrival of light-skinned people. If they come in brotherhood, there will be positive change. But if not, there will be destruction. As you know, the French, and later the British and Americans, arrived as foretold."

Shunkmanu's words flowed like the stream itself, carrying the weight of centuries. "The Fifth Fire was a time of great struggle and false promises from the light-skinned people. As the people abandoned our spiritual teachings and prophecies for the false promises, it would lead to our near destruction."

"The Sixth Fire," he continued, "tells of the false promises becoming dominant, leading to new sicknesses, disunity, abuse, injustice, and a loss of spiritual purpose and vision among the people."

As Shunkmanu approached the Seventh Fire, his voice held a sense of hope and anticipation. "And now, my dear grandchildren, we come to the Seventh Fire. A young prophet emerges, and New People seek guidance from the Elders. Some Elders have fallen asleep, and the New People must be careful in their approach."

He looked at each of his grandchildren, his eyes filled with love and wisdom. "If they choose the right path," he said, "with the lightning of the Seventh Fire, they will join our Indigenous peoples of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal, and Eagle, and together we will light the Eighth—an eternal fire of peace, love, brotherhood, and sisterhood—the Most Great Peace.”

As Shunkmanu's story continued, he reached a pivotal moment, and he knew it was time to share a sacred event that had just occurred. His grandchildren were ready!

"On a night that was bright with the Full Moon," Shunkmanu began, "on October 28, 2023, in Tepeapulco, Hidalgo, Mexico, something very sacred, special, and historic happened. It was a night when the heavens seemed to align with the destiny of our Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Africa, and our Human Family."

Shunkmanu's eyes sparkled with excitement as he continued, "The Eighth Fire, foretold by our ancestors and the Seven Fires Prophecy, was ignited on this sacred night by Indigenous representatives of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal, Eagle of the Americas, Africa, and other beloved Members of our Human Family."

Shunkmanu looked deep into the eyes of his grandchildren. "The sky was illuminated by the Full Moon, casting its silver light upon the land. The ancient teachings and prophecies guided those who had come to fulfill this sacred moment."

Shunkmanu's voice carried a deep sense of awe, pride, and reverence. "In Tepeapulco, the Eighth Fire blazed to life, and it is a fire of healing, unity, reconciliation, and renewal. Indigenous representatives from the Americas, Africa, and our Human Family in the Seen and Unseen Worlds joined in Unity and Diversity. They gathered together, aligning with the moon and the stars, some dancing with the Sacred Eighth Fire throughout the night."

“The Sacred Ceremony continued throughout the next day. All committed before the Fire to a Sacred Covenant for Unprecedented, Unified Action to Unify Our Human Family, End War, and Begin the Sacred Journey to the Most Great Peace. Reprsentatives of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal, Eagle, and others, representing the diversity of our Indigenous cultures and our Human Family, stood together in unity, symbols of hope and resilience. They brought their wisdom, songs, and prayers to these sacred moments."

With a sense of peace and love permeating the air, Shunkmanu continued. "It was a moment of profound significance, for it marked the fulfillment of the prophecies of our ancestors. The Most Great Peace, as envisioned in the Eighth Fire, has begun to take root."

Shunkmanu paused, allowing the weight of the moment to sink in. "My dear grandchildren, this event reminds us that the teachings of our people, the wisdom of the Seven Fires Prophecy, and the hope for a better future are not just stories of the past. They are living truths that continue to guide us in the present."

As the story unfolded by the beautiful flowing stream, Shunkmanu's words carried the message of unity, reconciliation, and the power of Indigenous knowledge and tradition. The Eighth Fire had indeed been ignited, and its flame burned brightly, lighting the path toward a future filled with peace, love, brotherhood, and sisterhood for all of humanity.

A new cycle and era had been born in the Lighting of the 8th Fire. The ashes from this Sacred Fire were now spreading across the Americas and beyond. As these ashes were added to new fires, the 8th Fire spread around Mother Earth.

Everywhere they were included in the Lightning of a new 8th Fire, more ashes were spread to ignite more 8th Fires. The flames of unity, healing, and renewal grew stronger with each ignition. The ashes held a sacred transforming spiritual power, carrying with them the prayers and ceremonies from the birth of the Ceremony of Lighting the 8th Fire and all the resulting 8th Fires.

As the sacred flames of the 8th Fire continued to spread, they touched the hearts and spirits of Indigenous peoples across the Americas and beyond. The prophecy of the Seven Fires was unfolding, and the vision of the Most Great Peace was becoming a reality.
