Never believe that the power of healing belongs to you alone. The healing power comes from Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka, the Great Mystery, moving through the spiritual realm, through Mother Earth, through the ancestors, through prayer, vision, and sacred ceremony.
The healer is not the source of that power, but a hollow bone—a clear and humble passage through which the power of Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka may flow to the two-leggeds and all our relations.
If pride enters the heart and we begin to believe, “I alone have done this,” the passage begins to close. But when we remain humble, prayerful, and emptied of self, the sacred power can continue to move through us, bringing healing wherever Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka intends it to go.
The gift does not belong to the vessel. The gift belongs to the Great Mystery. Our responsibility is to remain open, pure in intention, and ready to serve.
