The Deeper the Darkness, the Nearer the Dawn

There are times in the life of our Human Family when the world itself seems unbalanced, when the winds grow restless, and the ground beneath us no longer feels steady. In these moments, many feel fear, confusion, and uncertainty, as though something is breaking beyond repair.

Yet, grounded in the teachings of our ancestors and spiritual messengers, we do not see only destruction. We see a great turning. We see a time when the illusions that have guided human behavior, separation, domination, and imbalance, are being stripped away, not gently, but necessarily, so that something deeper, more truthful, can emerge.

We have always been taught that life moves in cycles, that nothing living remains fixed, and that every season carries both its own hardship and its own medicine. Just as winter comes before spring, there are times when the Human Family must pass through difficulty to remember who we truly are.

When we drift too far from the sacred laws of relationship, with our Mother Earth, with one another, and with the Great Spirit that lives within all things, the imbalance cannot sustain itself. It begins to correct. And that correction, when ignored for too long, arrives not as a whisper, but as a storm.

What we are witnessing in these times is not random chaos. It is a great awakening, though it does not always feel that way. The unrest and conflict across nations, the confusion in leadership, the suffering of our Mother Earth, and the unease in the hearts of humanity everywhere are all signs that humanity's conscience is being stirred.

And conscience, once awakened, cannot easily return to sleep. But awakening is rarely comfortable. It asks us to see what we have avoided, to feel what we have numbed, and to take responsibility for what we have allowed to continue.

From my understanding, hardship is a form of teaching, though not one we would choose lightly. It is like the fire that passes through the forest, clearing away what is dry and lifeless so that new growth can come. Without that fire, the forest becomes choked, unable to renew itself.

In the same way, the difficulties we face today are clearing space within the human spirit. They are breaking open the hardened places in our hearts so that compassion, courage, and wisdom may take root again. This is not punishment, it is preparation.

And so, even as the horizon darkens, we hold a different knowing. We know that the deeper the darkness becomes, the nearer the dawn must be.

The coming of a new day is not separate from these times of trial. The new day is born through them. The light we are waiting for is already beginning to move among us, not as something distant, but as something we are being called to carry. Every act of kindness, every effort to restore balance, every moment when we choose unity over division becomes part of that rising light.

This is why we cannot turn away or lose heart. We are not here merely to endure these times. We are here to walk through these times with purpose. We are here to remember our responsibilities to all our relations, to live in a way that reflects the sacredness of life, and to help one another stand when the weight of the world feels heavy.

The spiritual dawn will come, as it always does, but it will come through the actions, the prayers, and the courage of those who choose to live in alignment with what is right and just.

So we watch these times not only with concern, but with clarity. We see the pain, but we also see the possibility. We see the breaking, but we also see the becoming.

And we know, deep within our spirit, that we are living in a moment of great transition, one that is calling our Human Family to rise, to remember, and to step forward together into a new way of being, where balance is restored, and the light we have long awaited is finally able to shine fully across our Mother Earth.
