Statement from the Council of the Union of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal and Eagle

Statement from the Council of The Union of the Condor, Hummingbird, Quetzal, March 10, 2024

"Our Indigenous peoples witness with concern the escalating turmoil in global affairs. However, we understand that the conflicts, injustices, and suffering we witness and suffer are symptoms of the inevitable decline of the old materialistic, colonial world order, as foretold by our prophecies. We have complete faith, as prophesied, that this upheaval will lead to the emergence of a new global civilization founded on principles of justice, unity, compassion, and harmony.

Colonial-era political structures will inevitably give way to a more just and peaceful global order as humanity recognizes the depth of our interdependence with all life around us. Yet, as long as colonially-minded nations, groups, and factions continue to pursue self-centered, materialistic interests at the expense of others, the challenges facing our world will persist.

While various mainstream narratives frame divisive debates about justice and rights, Indigenous peoples must remain grounded in the knowledge of our interconnectedness with all life. We recognize ourselves as part of one world family, where the suffering of one affects us all, and the upliftment of one uplifts us all. The last 500 years have prepared us to play a crucial role in illuminating, enlightening, and healing the grave spiritual sickness that is impacting all Life.

Guided by Sixteen Indigenous Guiding Principles for Building a Sustainable, Harmonious, Prosperous World at this time of growing global conflicts, we emphasize two key principles:

Move to the Positive

Solving the critical problems in our lives and communities is best approached by visualizing and moving toward the positive alternative we wish to create and by building on our strengths rather than wasting energy fighting the negative.

Be the Change You Want To See

The most powerful strategies for change always involve positive role modeling and the creation of living examples of the proposed solutions. By walking the path, we make the way visible.”

And So We Unite in the Sacred Name of All That Lives.
