Renewal Is the Sacred Heartbeat of This Moment

From the depths of our Indigenous heart and the boundless expanse of our soul—where the Sacred Tree of Life, Čhaŋnúŋpa Wíyakpa, rises from the sacred womb of Unčí Maka (Mother Earth) and stretches its arms to embrace the infinite stars of Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka (the Great Mystery)—we speak these words with sacred clarity, humility, and deep reverence:

Renewal is not only the order of the day—it is the sacred heartbeat of this moment.

Just as the crimson edge of dawn pierces the veil of night, signaling the return of light after the long embrace of darkness… just as spring breathes life into the roots long frozen by winter’s sleep, so too does the Spirit of Renewal now sweep across the skin of Unčí Maka. It arrives not in haste, but with intention—like the silent snowfall that blankets the land with purity and promise.

We feel this sacred turning in the trembling of the trees whose roots remember, in the songs of the winged ones returning with the messages of the sky realms, in the stirring of the sacred waters that carry the memory of every prayer ever spoken. This renewal is not born of human invention, nor summoned by worldly power. Still, it is gifted freely by the fresh outpouring of wówaš’ake (spiritual strength) and wóuŋspe (sacred wisdom) from Wakȟáŋ Tȟáŋka, the Maker of All Good Things, who breathes life into the seen and unseen alike.

This is the time of the fulfillment of the prophecies.

It is the time long spoken of by our grandmothers and grandfathers, who sat by the fire and dreamed of a day when the sacred hoop would be mended, when the children of the four directions—red, yellow, black, and white—would remember that they are all strands in the same braid of life. The winds of change are now rising, rustling through the lodges of every nation, whispering to every heart: Wake up. Remember. Rise.

We are being called to shed the old skins—skins hardened by fear, separation, and illusion. The ways we have walked that were shaped by colonization, domination, and forgetfulness must be laid down, like offerings at the altar of transformation. We must unbind our minds, liberate our spirits, and return to the Original Instructions—the spiritual blueprints etched into our bones before birth, the sacred memory carried in our bloodlines, the wisdom of the land that still sings in our dreams.

And yet, these teachings are not new. They are as ancient as the first breath. They are the sacred seeds placed lovingly into the Earth by our ancestors, now breaking through the soil of this age with fierce determination and gentle grace. They rise in the stories being remembered, in the ceremonies being reborn, in the languages being spoken again beneath the moonlight.

These teachings—these wówačhaŋtognaka (sacred truths)—are the sacred laws of balance: unity, respect, compassion, and reciprocity. They are the laws of the Sacred Hoop. The teachings of Cante Wasté—the Pure Heart—that must be rekindled in each human soul if the sacred song of peace will ever be sung in harmony again.

Unless these truths are carried like a sacred flame, from heart to heart, from hearth to hearth, from nation to nation—unless they are lived, embodied, and breathed into every relationship and every choice—the world will remain in okihi šni, in wandering without purpose, in disconnection from the sacred.

But we have not come this far to forget who we are.

Now is the time to lift the sacred staff, to take the first step onto the sacred path of the new dawn, with courage in our hearts and prayers on our lips. Now is the time to walk in beauty, guided by the colors of humanity, bound not by blood but by spirit, purpose, shared origin and destiny.

Let us walk together under the sacred canopy of Wóyakapi—the Great Prophecy—whose time has come. Let us fulfill the vision woven long ago: that one day, all the children of Mother Earth would rise as one, not in conquest, but in compassion; not to dominate, but to serve; not to hoard, but to heal.

We are the ones we have been waiting for. We are the morning light.

We are the sacred breath of a new world rising.

Grassy rolling hills glow golden under a rising sun, with mist in the valleys, a vivid pink and purple sky, and red and blue wildflowers in the foreground.
