Remembering the Children of the Haskell Indian School Cemetery

For many years, whenever possible, I have prayed with my father, and others, at the Haskell Indian School Cemetary where more than 100 children are buried, that never made it home.

I have always thought about and prayed for these children, as I was born at Haskell. When the Caravan of Unity was planned, I wanted to ensure that along with the Sand Creek Massacre that the children at Haskell be remembered.

Our hearfelt thanksgiving to sisters Kelly Daniels and Pooki Lee for arranging the Ceremonial offerings of smudge, corn meal, and the remerance of each child, and to Haskell Indian Nations President, Dr. Ronald Graham for opening the Ceremony, at a time when the Haskell Campus is shut down and all thier staff is working at home.

All unfolded gracefully! We are going to arrange for each child to have a page, so that relatives may be able to find them. We pray and trust that in time, the same remembrance will be made for any child who was unable to come home.
