Remembering Summers with Unchi Martina and the Sherwood Clan

I remember so clearly the many summers we visited Unchi Martina and the Sherwood Clan. Especially one summer, June-August, when I was 14-15. This included the Roundup of almost 400 cattle, flanking calves, riding a bale sled, that sometime baled rattlesnakes, and personal stories about Chief Gall, Sitting Bull and many other great warriors and grandmothers who have been lost in memory by many, just as the fate will be of most of us, who are currently alive in this fleeting, physical world!

This picture is when Unchi came to visit us in Walla Walla for some months. She is here with my Mother, Dad and Sister Deloria.

Unchi Martina was almost 98 at the time.
