Our dear sister, Mary Kahn, has just made her Journey to the Other Side Camp, where her beloved husband, Franklin and other family members immersed her in Divine Love. Our prayers are sent to warm sent to Tonska Tony and other family members who are still with us in this physical world.
I especially respected and agree with their stand, their Navaho Medicine People and Road Men, who use peyote to heal, are just as qualified to heal as any M.D. Brother Frankin never displayed any anger to those that opposed this perspective. When I asked him about it, as it made me angry, at times, Brother Franklin would smile gently and say, " In they will understand."
I had the great honor and privilege to meet Sister Mary and her Beloved Husband Franklin on the Yakima Reservation in the summer of 1969, more than 50 years ago. And then I met brothers, Ben and Chester Kahn, who have also traveled on to the World of Light.
In 1978, I was adopted into the Kahn Family, through a Blessing Way Ceremony. This was the first time I experienced an old-style Navaho Sweat Lodge, carved into a very large stone. There was just space enough space for Franklin, Chester, myself, Ben and Elder Burnside who conducted the Ceremony.
There was a trough carved in front of where we were sitting, in a line, Franklin, Chester, myself, Ben, and Elder Burnside. The hot rocks were put in the trough, and then a thick Navajo Blanket covered the entrance. There was no need for water, as it was the middle of the summer, in the desert, outside of Window Rock. It was not much hotter outside than inside, and it was almost boiling hot inside.
I especially respected and agree with their stand, that their Navaho Medicine People and Peyote Road Men, are just as competent, and in some cases, more competent to heal and dispense our natural medicines, as any Medical Doctor and Physician. Brother Frankin never displayed any anger to those that opposed this perspective. When I asked him about it, as this arrogant ignorance made me angry, Brother Franklin would smile gently and say, " In time they will understand."
