My father in his boxing days. In his younger days, he loved to fight both in the boxing ring and when needed outside the ring.
I remember one of the times we visited Wakpala and stayed at Sherwood Corners. My Father and his Tahansi’s Bobby Sherwood and Sam Claymore cleaned out the Silver Dollar Bar in Mobridge of some racists. I am sure they deeply regretted their racist remarks. I remember my Lekshi and my father returning with some bruises themselves, but they were smiling and laughing.
Although he fought in more than 250 Boxing Matches, before he went to the Other Side Camp, he told me, “Son, if I had my life to live over again, I would never participate in a sport that’s purpose was to hurt another Human Being! “
Those were those days! Today calls for love and forgiveness, not an easy path to walk!
