Potentiality Is Infinite: The Boundless Grace of Wakan Tanka

Potentiality is Infinite

From an Indigenous perspective, the concept of existence and its degrees encompasses the profound interrelationship between all beings and the Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka. The finite nature of serving the People, Sacred Beings like the Peacemaker, Quetzaquatl, the White Buffalo Calf Woman, and Divinity reflect the structure of our universe, where each being has its own role and place in the cosmic order.

Yet, the perfections and manifestations of Wakan Tanka and creation are boundless and ever-evolving.

In Indigenous worldviews, every element of creation is infused with spirit and purpose, reflecting the infinite perfections of Wakan Tanka. The idea that no created thing can reach the ultimate summit of perfection resonates with the understanding that the Creator's wisdom and grace are limitless. This continuous potential for growth and improvement is a testament to the dynamic and living nature of the universe.

Consider the worlds of our mineral, plant, and animal relatives, where the notion that no diamond, rose, or quetzal can be the absolute pinnacle of its kind is a testament to the sacredness of diversity and the perpetual cycle of life.

While perfect in its own right, each being contributes to a more extensive, interconnected web of existence where the possibility of more extraordinary beauty and perfection always exists. This always evoked a sense of awe and wonder at the intricacies of creation in our ancestors.

The grace of our Creator is limitless, and this infinite grace is reflected in the perfections of the Human Family. Indigenous cultures see this through the lens of interconnectedness and unity, fostering a sense of belonging and shared purpose.

Each individual and community is a part of a larger whole, continuously evolving and striving towards greater harmony and balance. Recognizing each person's potential for growth and the sacred duty to support one another's journeys highlights the communal nature of Indigenous spirituality, reinforcing our shared interconnectedness.

If any being could attain the ultimate summit of perfection, it would imply a separation from the Great Spirit, an idea inconceivable in Indigenous thought. The continuous connection to the Great Spirit is essential, underscoring our inherent dependency and relational existence within the universe.

Each created thing has its own degree, a unique path, and purpose, which it cannot surpass, maintaining the harmony and balance ordained by Wakan Tanka.

While finite in their structure, the degrees of existence are infinite in their potential for growth and manifestation of the Creator's grace. This limitless potential is a fundamental principle in Indigenous philosophies, emphasizing the continual journey towards greater unity, harmony, and perfection within the sacred web of life.

The Great Spirit's boundless grace ensures that the perfections of our World Family and the Human Family are ever-evolving, reflecting the eternal dance of life and spirit.
