Our sisters and tonjas began their four-day Moon Dance yesterday at La Ventana, Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico. They dance under the moon for four nights without food or water. During the day, they prayerfully endure the heat and continue fast without food or water.
Many Sun and Moon Dances last four days. Although Deksi Pete Catches Sr. liked Sun Dancing nonstop for two days and nights. Dekshi Pete called this dancing two yellow days and two blue days. One year, we danced three yellow days and one blue day. I love to dance two yellow days and two blue days.
Enduring four nights and days without food and water in the heat of the Chiapas jungle is quite a sacrifice. Let's keep these beloved relatives in our prayers as they dance and fast for the healing and upliftment of all Life, seen and unseen.
