Opening Ceremony of the 5,000-Mile Totem Pole Journey

Today 2016, with Caske Rueben, at the Opening Ceremony to launch the 5000 miles Totem Pole Journey that will ultimately join with Grand Chief Derek Nepinak and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs in Winnipeg to stop the Tar Sands Energy East Pipeline.

We are very thankful to be able to stop, along the way, to have prayers at the site of the Battle of Greasy Grass, where General Custer and the 7th Calvery were gifted with their " Arrow Shirts" by the combined forces of the Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Cheyenne and Arapahoe Nations on June 26, 1876.

We will then have the privilege to travel to the Sacred Stone Camp, Cannon Ball, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Tribe to demonstrate our united support to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. We will then travel to Green Grass, Cheyenne River Nation, to pay our heartfelt to Chief Arvol Looking Horse and his Beloved Wife Paula Horne!

Two men in black shirts stand arm in arm outdoors; one in a cap and sunglasses gives a thumbs up, the other has white hair and a turquoise bolo tie. A carved, painted totem pole lies behind them.
