North Dakota Blockade at Standing Rock Violates the US Constitution

STATE OF NORTH DAKOTA VIOLATES US CONSTITUTION

Last evening our delegation drove through this Blockade at about 11 PM going North to Bismarck from Cannon Ball on Highway 1806. There were seven North Dakota State Patrol Vehicles parked there and at least ten armed North Dakota Police. The Blockade itself was something you may expect to see in Iraq. The Barrier was on both sides of the Road, so you had to snake your around to get past.

The Blockade gave the impression they are preparing for a major terrorist attack. The concrete was so thick and high that a tank could not get through unless the tank blew it up. It was very intimidating, to say the least. This Barricade blocks all traffic wanting to go directly to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to Cannon Ball and the Sacred Stone Camp. It also blocks direct traffic to the Prairie Nights Hotel and Casino and Ft Yates and the Tribal Center.

You need to take a complicated detour from Bismarck go south to get the Sacred Stone Camp, the Prairie Nights Hotel, and Casino. There are no signs that direct you how to take the detour South to reach Cannon Ball, the Casino or the Tribal Center at Ft. Yates. This Barricade blocks all traffic from Bismark going south from Bismarck Airport, and major Highway is truly a violation of Civil Rights. Especially, in light of the entirely peaceful, prayerful Sacred Stone Camp that is free of Alcohol, Drugs, and Weapons and has about 200 young children.

This Blockade surrounded by armed North Dakota Police is meant to provoke fear and a sense that there is danger ahead. President Obama and his wife came to Cannon Ball and made all kind of Promises to Tribal representatives and young people from Reservations from four states across the Great Sioux Nation.

As well, The United States has failed to respect the national sovereignty and interests of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and its people. This inaction includes failing to comply with the nation-to-nation relationship with the Tribe established by treaties, and failing to consult properly with the Tribe to obtain its free, prior, and informed consent for the construction of the pipeline.

It is time for you, President Obama, to take Executive Action to remove the Barrier and the North Dakota Police who are violating Civil Rights and doing their best to promote racial conflict and misunderstanding and fulfill US Treaty obligations to the Standing Standing Rock Sioux Tribe! This Executive Action includes mobilizing the National Guard to protect Native Americans if necessary, who have served in the US Military in greater percentages than any other population in the United States for more than 100 years.

Every American has the right to freely and peacefully gather on their land, especially on land governed by Treaties to express their freedom of peaceful Assembly and Speech. These actions taken by the State of North Dakota against the Standing Rock Tribe are a clear violation of the US Constitution! Where is the Justice promised in the US Constitution, President Obama? What is your perspective on this Violation of the US Constitution Ms. Clinton and Mr. Trump?
