My Tanksi Faith: A Living Example of Being a Good Relative

My Tanksi Faith has been my inspiration and role model ever since my father and I traveled to our Ihanktonwan Homelands, many years ago and our Ate's insured we met before they journeyed to the Other Side Camp.

The first thing we did together was to take a long, cross-country jog. It took every ounce of my strength and energy to keep up with her and it was clear if she wanted to she could have, literally, left me in the dust. But Tanksi is a living example of what our Unchi Ella Deloria said is the core spiritual teaching of our Dakota Oyate, "To be a good relative" and she did not want to embarrass me.
