Meeting Jehan Sadat, Former First Lady of Egypt, in Guanajuato

Meeting a Great Human Being, First Lady of Egypt, Jehan Sadat

In November 1996, my wife and I were invited to attend the first State of the World Forum convened in Guanajuato, Mexico.

The purpose of the Forum was to look at the issue of how Latin America could creatively interact with the forces of globalization.

Over 700 people from 20 Latin American countries attended the conference, hosted by Guanajuato Governor Vicente Fox, a member of the Forum network. Including Sister Helen Samuels and representatives of Indigenous Peoples of Mexico and Mexican Gang Members.

It was here that I had the honor of meeting and visiting with one of the most honorable and loving Human Beings, I have ever met in my life, Jehan Safwat Raouf (Arabic: جيهان صفوت رؤوف Jīhān Ṣafwat Raʼūf) wife of Anwar Sadat, who was assassinated for making peace with Israel.

Ms. Sadat was one of the most dignified, honorable, gracious, compassionate, and loving Human Beings I have ever met. She is now almost 88 Winters in Age and is still praying for the Peace, that her beloved Husband, gave his life to try and accomplish!
