Wonderful visit on our way home from Ethiopia after World Interfaith Harmony Week, 2019, with Koda Darcy Demas and brother Ben Bowler to visit our very respected and loved brother Shiekh Abdul Aziz, Ajman Emirate, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Along with a visit to his family home, museum, and great food, our brother invited us to join him at his family Mosque. We learned how to prepare to pray and wash our hands, face, and feet. Koda Darcy and I fit in, more or less, in how we look. Brother Ben has blue eyes and light skin.
This made no difference to anyone. We were each treated with great love and respect. The religious fanatics from various faith communities around Mother Earth are just a few, but thier actions cause prejudice against everyone in thier faith. Sad but true!
Diyafa (hospitality ) is underscored in Islam, just as hospitality is a key teaching in many Indigenous and other faith communities. In Islam, the one who does not honor thier guest is considered a mean and disgraceful person. The miser is the one who does not pay alms and does not honor the guest.
