Honoring Our Father, Phil Lane Sr., on His 103rd Birthday

Today is our father’s 103rd birthday. In his later life, He and my mother, were founding members of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society(AISES), Council of Elders.

Both our parents loved to attend both the AISES National Conference and Leadership Gathering. Being with and visiting with AISES students, staff, board, elders, and participants, was one of their great joys of their elder years.

This poem was written in his honor by AISES member, Michael Arvitt, San Felipe Pueblo. We cherish the memories of our grandparents, parents and other beloved friends and relatives, just like so many you cherish the memories of your beloved ones, as well!

Printed page titled "Mato Gi – Tribute to a Man" with a photo of Phil Lane Sr., an elderly white-haired man holding a feather fan, and a poem by Michael D. Avritt, San Felipe Pueblo, 2004.
