Honoring Kevin Locke, Tȟokéya Inážiŋ, The First to Arise

Tahansi Kevin's unexpected journey to the Other Side Camp was a great shock and loss. In 1975, I met and became very close to his mother, tȟuŋwíŋ Pat, at the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI).

Tonska Kevin, Tȟuŋwíŋ Pat and Family, Dekshi Virgil Birdhorse, and Tȟuŋwíŋ Marguarite Fiddler were my sponsors in my first Sundance at Little Eagle, on the Standing Rock, in 1980-1983. They are now all closer than our closest vein in the spiritual world, supporting and inspiring us from the Other Side Camp.

Whenever I needed the spelling, pronunciation, or meaning of a Dakota word, Tahansi Kevin always took the necessary time to help me. Tahansi Kevin and all our beloved relatives are still inspiring and guiding us all from the World of Light. They are only a prayer away!
