Healing the Hurts: Remembering the Courage of Alkali Lake

35 years ago! Many of these beloved relatives have journeyed to the Other Side Camp. It was through the Vision of Phylis Chelsea and the Community of Alkali Lake, that both The Honor of All-The Story of Alkali Lake and Healing the Hurts were made.

We were strongly attacked, by some relatives, for making this film. They said we shouldn't open this "can of worms" or "this needs to be forgotten" or "only Western certified psychologists should be doing this kind of work.

Later, as well, we found in the Healing Process, that some of the children who were sexually and physically abused by those in authority, did the same to other younger children.

Residential schools are the primary source of sexual abuse, incest, violence, internalized oppression, abuse of children and women, and resulting disunity we find in our Indigenous communities today.

It is a spiritual truth that when the Cry of Truth is Raised so is the Cry of Denial, but this will not ultimately keep us from healing and unity, as prophesied! It will only make us spiritually stronger!
