Exploring the Little Bighorn Battlefield with Tiger

Tiger at 10, and I exploring the Little Big Horn Battle Field in Montana, after attending a wonderful Sun Dance at White Swan, on the Yankton Sioux Reservation, with beloved relatives, July 2010.

I have visited Greasy Grass many times since I was a young boy. A mandatory stop when we drove to Standing Rock and Yankton. The history books do not tell the true story. Custer was killed at the beginning of the battle at the Little Bighorn River. Custer and the 7th Calvary were wiped out in about an hour.

Phil Lane Jr., an older man in a white Center for the Healing of Racism T-shirt, smiles with his arm around Tiger, a boy in a blue shirt, on the open Montana battlefield under a cloudy sky.
