Exploring Greasy Grass with My Son, Tiger, Mato Gi

My son, Tiger, Mato Gi, and I during one of the times we explored the Custer battlefield where his Great-Great Grandfather's, Low Dog and Chief Gall, and other Oceti Sakowin, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe warriors, led by Crazy Horse, wiped out General Custer and the 7th Calvary, at Greasy Grass when Custer and the 7th Calvary attacked our peaceful Sun Dance Camp.

My father did the same with me every time we traveled home to the Standing Rock and Yankton Sioux Reservations in North and South Dakota since I was a small boy.

My father would always recount Custer's words, " Give me the 7th Calvary and I will ride straight through the Sioux Nation!" Then he would laugh, and say, " You know Son, he was only half-right!

The rest of the story is that the 7th Calvary was reformed and committed the Wounded Knee Massacre on December 29, 1890.

But as we know, without question, there is no death, just a change of worlds. Our Sacred Drums and Songs from the spiritual worlds are stronger than ever.
