We must cleanse your eyes, my Relatives, so that we may behold no one as different from ourselves. So we do not gaze upon another as a stranger or an alien, for all who walk upon the back of our Mother Earth are members of one Human Family. When we fix our sight on separateness, on otherness, then love and unity slip from our grasp like water through open hands.
The Sacred Teachings carried by our Ancestors remind us that in this new and wondrous age, we are called to live in oneness with every people and nation. Let us not see harshness where the Creator has placed beauty, nor injustice where Wakan Tanka has sown dignity, nor hostility where Friebship and kinship still breathe.
Instead, let us turn our eyes upward and inward, toward the heaven of Wakan Tanka, the Great Mystery, who embraces all colors of the Sacred Hoop, red, yellow, black, and white, as one circle of life.
Every human being is a sacred sign of the Maker of All Good Things. By divine grace, love, power, and the holy breath of Wakan Tanka, each stepped upon this Mother Earth with gifts to share.
Therefore, we are not strangers; we are relatives, and they are not outsiders, but friends. To honor them as such is to honor the Creator who sent them, just as the buffalo, eagle, and cedar each reveal a face of the same Great Mystery.
When we walk in this way, with eyes cleansed of division, our footsteps leave a trail of kindness. We become like the river that gives life freely to all, or like the Sacred Tree whose shade and fruit are not withheld from any being.
This is the path of healing and harmony: to see one another not through fear or suspicion, but through the radiant light of kinship, love, friendship, and sacred respect.
