Change, Potentiality and the Birth of a New Global Civilization

Change is the most fundamental characteristic of our physical world of time and space. Change may be slow, subtle, and imperceptible, like the tiny seeds germinating under the snow. But, on the other hand, change may also be rapid and dynamic, like the butterfly emerging from the cocoon or the birth of a baby. We are living in a time of globally rapid and dynamic change.

For instance, for all of recorded history, until the invention of the steam engine, the fastest a human being could move was the speed of a horse. Thus the term horsepower becomes related to engines. From this point, the rate at which human beings can move increases dramatically, like a parabolic curve.

The digital world began with the first telegraph message sent from Washington to Baltimore" "What hath God wrought"?" on May 24, 1844, by Samuel Morris. From this point, after thousands of years, technology dramatically increases in the form of a parabolic curve. This dynamic change continues to accelerate until today.

I often wonder why, after thousands of years why, this rapid change of the past 200 years is happening and continuing to accelerate, as prophecied by our Ancestors and Ancient Ones?

Change presupposes process. Process presupposes potentiality. A process is an ordered expression of a potentiality. A potentiality is a non-actual form of reality.

For instance, an acorn has the potential to become countless oak trees. The acorn will become countless oak trees if the external world supports the acorn DNA, INcluding soil, water, and weather. An oak tree is an actualized form of the potentiality of an acorn. An acorn is a non-actual form of reality of the oak tree.

The translation of potentiality into actuality is the cutting edge of our Universe. The translation of potentiality into actuality creates more potentiality! Potentiality is infinite. Just like one acorn may become countless oak trees.

Human beings have five interrelated potentialities, the physical (psychomotor), the emotional (affective), the mental (cognitive), the spiritual (perceptual), and the will (volitional.) Human potential is infinite, as well.

Change unfolds according to natural physical and spiritual laws! Without change and renewal, there is death!

Some cycles of change take thousands of years. However, as we are witnessing and experiencing, change may unfold dynamically with global impacts. This unprecedented, dynamic change from an old global paradigm to a new one naturally includes confusion and conflict!

Our Human Family is in the process of moving from our adolescence to spiritual adulthood! The degree of confusion, conflict, and societal collapse we experience is ultimately our individual and collective choice.

Will we continue the same path of increasing competition, conflict, and societal breakdown or move toward a new Global Civilization founded on Justice and the understanding we are all members of One Human Family and the Hurt of One is the Hurt of All? Again it is our choice.

When cultures and religions close themselves off from change, the most fundamental characteristic of our Universe, they die! However, this does not mean that basic spiritual qualities, essential to all healthy and enduring cultures and societies, change.

Any culture, society, or civilization that wishes to grow and flourish, no matter its challenges and obstacles, must hold on to these spiritual qualities, including kindness, courage, generosity, prayer, patience, humility, respect, loyalty, faith, integrity, gentleness, Justice, and unity. These spiritual values support the healthy development of human beings and their communities physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and volitionally.

At the same time, the social dimensions of our cultures and societies change over time. The way we dress, marry, entertain ourselves, and communicate, as well as, our economic relationships, the role of men and women, and how we relate with other cultures and spiritual traditions.

These social changes, in harmony with our spiritual teachings, support the unfolding of an ever-greater civilization"! What is needed today are spiritual and social teachings so we can" live together globally as a Human Family, with Justice and Unity in Diversity.

As my beloved father used to ask me, "Can Indians play bridge?"

Then after a short pause, he would say, "Yes, of course, we can! We all have the unlimited spiritual power to do anything we choose through our prayers and spiritual teachings!

Choose wisely, my son, because every decision and action you take has consequences. Some choices and consequences endure lifetimes!"
