Bangkok on the Eve of a Contested National Election

At 6PM this evening the City of Bangkok begin to close down, with no public alcohol sales for 24 hours across this city of more than 12 million and across all of Thailand, as well. Most traffic just seemed to disappear from once traffic jammed streets, except for the Seven Protest Areas that continue to grow. Now farmers, from at least 5 Provinces, that have not paid for their rice under a failed government program, have blocked the main highway that goes to the South of Thailand. 130,000 Police and 27 Military Companies have been deployed across the country to try and keep fighting from breaking out at polling stations for the very controversial national election that is scheduled to begin in less than 12 hours. What is not being reported is that Buddhist Chanting Gatherings across Bangkok and in other locations in the country are praying for peace 24/7, including many young people. Now I am seeing on television the first outbreaks of violence that started before sundown and continues!
