A Grandmother's Song for Our Parents' Marriage

Today is the anniversary day of our beloved mother's passing, Bow Lane. This is a song written by her mother, our Chickasaw Grandmother, Ella Vale, in honor of our mother's impending marriage to our dad, Phil Lane Sr., in October 1943.

Our parents met in residential school (Haskell) when our father was 17 and our mother was 13. They fell in love. Ten years later they married.

Our grandmother Ella, wrote poetry, music and loved her Chickasaw heritage, history, and family. She was an inventor, as well. Some of her inventions, visionary understanding, Grandma Ella lived with our family, the majority of the time, when we were growing up with our parents.
