A Feast After the Pipe Ceremony at the Vancouver Friendship Centre

Relaxing and having a feast after a most wonderful Pipe Ceremony, with 22 Pipe Carriers and several hundred community relatives at the Vancouver Friendship Centre, this past Tuesday, the 17th. It turned out that is was exactly 40 years, to the day, that I was a witness of my dear brother, Robert Nahanee, and my dear friend, Terry Lewis, entering the Smoke House.

The haze you see in the photo is sage. They opened the doors, but the smoke would not leave. It was a great day.

Group seated at a long table with plates of food in a gymnasium hazy with sage smoke; an elder in a red-and-black ribbon vest sits at center, with women in Coast Salish-style dress standing behind.
