A Canceled Flight in Panama and a Father's Teaching on Gratitude

Got up very early this morning, on the Pacific Side of Panama, where I had been recovering from a great, but a very physically grueling visit to the San Blas Islands (on the Atlantic side of Panama) attending a yearly meeting of the Guna Yala General Council.

I was staying with an old friend, Leonard Gavin, who I had not seen since 1969. He drove me almost three hours to the Panama City Airport! When I got to the counter I found out my plane had been canceled until tomorrow! The airline compensated me with a stay in a brand-new five star hotel, great food ( never stayed in a place quite like this) and a first class seat home in the morning!

Life is always full of surprises, but like my father always told me, "Accept everything that comes in your path with gratitude to the Creator and never forget that we are only here in this life for a very, very short time !"
